Homework is not a compulsory part of education and the government provide guidelines only with regards to the amount and type of homework. Ideally children should be going home to relax, have fun and enjoy spending time with their family. The homework set at Tudor Grange Primary Academy Meon Vale is designed so that children have an opportunity to research, design, reflect on areas they have learnt and enjoy practical activities. We also recognise that today children participate in many activities outside school which often result in them not returning home until after 6pm. This is too late for children to be sitting down and trying to concentrate. Please try to encourage your child to manage their time so that some of the weekend is devoted to trying to complete some of the activities that have been set. If for one reason or another your child has not been able to complete any homework then let their class teacher know and time will be allocated in school to support them.
