On this, the first full day of the children’s Towers experience, they were fortunate to wake to a dry, sunny morning… the perfect weather for gorge walking. Gorge Walking (as the name suggests) involves walking up a gorge, meaning that the children were guaranteed to a) get wet b) expend a great deal of energy and c) have lots of fun! With that in mind, everyone tucked into a cooked breakfast, packed warm clothes, boots, copious amounts of food and set off.

The gorge walking experience started relatively calmly, with the children navigating through shallow waters but this soon changed! Before long, the children were wading through rivers, jumping across banks and exploring hidden caves. They even found a waterfall that they could walk through! Cold, wet and rather bedraggled, the children warmed up with hot chocolate before heading back to the centre. After a quick shower and change, the children completed low ropes courses and activities with the instructors in the afternoon before heading to a dinner of BBQ chicken, coconut curry and Eton mess!

Later in the evening, the children completed the evening activity, ‘Gutterball’, which involved having to move a ball across an area using a limited number of pieces of guttering and also ‘Skiing’ where the children had to work as a team to move large wooden skis in groups of 6!

After an exciting and exhausting day, the children are looking forward to what lies in store tomorrow.
