Sun and blues skies greeted the pupils on Thursday morning – the perfect conditions to complete a range of outdoor activities. Today, the children were looking forward to canoeing and bouldering.

After a very physical day yesterday and the promise of more of the same today, the children tucked into cereal and a cooked breakfast before preparing for the day ahead. Whilst Mr Greygoose’s group started with canoeing, Miss Halford’s group completed bouldering.

Donning their waterproof clothing and protective gear, Mr Greygoose’s group travelled to a local river where they were taught how to handle a canoe before working in groups of three to a boat to travel through the water to their lunch destination. There, they were taught how to create a fire and even roasted their own marshmallows and drank hot chocolate – to keep their strength up of course!

Whilst this was happening, Miss Halford’s group was bouldering. This activity involved the children climbing over, under and through large boulders to reach the summit of a hill. A task such as this involved a great deal of teamwork, perseverance, bravery and quite a lot of wiggling! In the afternoon, each group completed the opposite activity before heading home for some downtime and tea.

In the evening, after another day of exciting but physically demanding tasks, what better than to curl up in front of the big screen and watch a film together? With that in mind, the children all brought their bedding to the common room where they ate popcorn and watched a movie; a relaxing end to a fantastic day.

As the pupils approach their last day at The Towers, we look forward to visiting Betws-y-Coed tomorrow before heading home.
