Year 3 have been absolutely loving their art topic this term! They’ve been exploring how they can use charcoal to make expressive, gestural drawings… and what a fun (and messy!) time they’ve had.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting in their sketchbooks, trying out different ways to make marks with charcoal and exploring how they can use light and dark effects with the charcoal to make an inspiring piece of artwork.

Their inspiration has come from the amazing artist Laura McKendry, and they are now busy working on their own final pieces using her style to influence their work.

There’s been lots of laughter, smudged hands, mucky faces (and tables!) and creative energy in the classroom. The children can’t wait to share their finished masterpieces with you soon!
