Geography should inspire a sense of awe and wonder and provide pupils with a clear sense of their place in the world. We encourage children to question and to think and, as such, geographical understanding is developed through a series of enquiries. Our curriculum is underpinned by three concepts: place, space, and scale. These concepts are used as a facilitating tool that is fundamental to structuring and supporting how children learn Geography by drawing out links between processes and ideas.

At Tudor Grange Primary Academy Meon Vale, Geography develops an awareness of; interdependence, how people and countries are interlinked and how they interact with each other; continuity and change, within physical and human geography and how this might be managed in the future; their responsibility towards environmental impact and sustainable development; and similarities and differences between places and cultures. These threads run through the curriculum and support pupils’ understanding of locational knowledge, place knowledge, environmental, physical and human geography, and geographical skills and fieldwork. Our pupils will leave us with an appreciation for the diversity of our complex and varied world.
